ICanCaRe Tutorial is a pan India group online program for extended learning conducted by the ICanCaRe Academy to provide deeper insight into tobacco intervention through Case Discussion, Problem-Based Learning, and Group Discussion on selected topics.

2nd ICanCaRe Tutorial for CTCS

The second Tutorial for Certified Tobacco Cessation Specialists was initiated by Dr. Mariya Tambawala and Dr. Nikita Dwivedi on 15th October 2022.

Dr. Simoni Shah a Psychologist and Certified Tobacco Cessation Specialist practicing in Mumbai presented a case for discussion.

The case was discussed in detail with inputs coming from many of the participants, and discussing the history of the patient was piecemeal, relevantly analyzing it, and finally preparing a plan for the patient.

Dr. Simoni was happy to get practical inputs to manage the case. At the same time giving other CTCS an insight into dealing with such cases.

Sowing a seed in the mind of a tobacco user, the discussion started by Dr. Mariya, saw some interesting inputs coming from all the participants. The relevant individualized advice is the most important

Dr. Nikita gave a vote of thanks and requested all the participants to submit their cases for future discussions.

All the participants thanked The trio  – Mariya, Visuja, and Nikita for initialization the tutorials which are of great help in the management of the patients. Everyone also thanked Dr. Pawan Gupta for his practical input.

#1 Tutorial for Certified Tobacco Cessation Specialist

First Tutorial for Certified Tobacco Cessation Specialists initiated by Dr. Mariya Tambawala, Dr. Visuja Chaudhary, and Dr. Nikita Dwivedi was a great start. Practical-oriented discussion with the aim to understand the intricacies of successful cessation. The program started with a welcome address by Dr. Visuja, followed by Dr. Mariya telling the purpose of starting the tutorial.

Dr. Harshita Pandey a dental surgeon and Certified Tobacco Cessation Specialist running a center at MAX Vaishali put a tricky case for solving.

The case was discussed in detail with inputs coming from many of the participants, and discussing the history of the patient piecemeal, relevantly analyzing it, and finally preparing a plan for the patient. Sure, it would help Dr. Harshita manage her patient effectively. At the same time giving other CTCS an insight into dealing with such cases.

Mrs. Sonal Bhatia, Tobacco MARSHAL gave an insight into her TOBACCO MARSHAL initiative across India and her making of 1000 tobacco MARSHALs in 3 months.
